Re: Google Pixel Phone Device Detection Issues

Dear Edgecast Support,

To add to Amar's post, please note that undetected mobile devices will still be categorized as mobile devices by the WURFL API's heuristics and return true for the virtual capability is_mobile.

Thanks,

Re: iOS device_os_version 3rd number

Hi,

Virtual Capabilities support was included in version 1.5 for the WURFL Standalone APIs. As long as you use a newer version, you should be good to go.

Thank you,

Re: iOS device_os_version 3rd number

Hi there, It has always been our policy to detect and report version numbers for iOS down to the second position for standard WURFL capabilities. We sometimes report the third position for an iOS UA if that particular version caused a WURFL capability to change. For example, iOS 8.0 had a file uploa...

Re: Firefox user-agent with "toolbar" attribute wrong detect

Hi Nick, For instance this Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:35.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/35.0 AlexaToolbar/alxf-2.21 UA will not be detected as desktop firefox, but as an LG Saber UN200. I'm unable to replicate the issue you're having with the UA from your post. It correctly shows up as Firefo...

Hi Kumar, In the future, please keep in mind starting a new thread for new questions is advisable to keep the discussion on topic and to make it easier for our support staff to find and reply to your questions. Please note that the webview User-Agent for Android is also used by the stock/OEM browser...

Re: Issue in Micromax Canvas 4 A210 (wurfl is not working on

Hi Dharmendra, Thank you for sending us the device headers. Since the UAs for the Micromax A210 and Acer Iconia Tab A210 are similar and do not show any noticeable difference in the HTTP headers, WURFL is currently unable to differentiate between the devices. Our team will keep you informed if any a...

Re: Issue in Micromax Canvas 4 A210 (wurfl is not working on

Hi Dharmendra, I'm not sure why you think that Elliot's email response and my forum post response to your second User-Agent are to the contrary. Let me start from scratch to make sure I'm being extremely clear: There are two User-Agents(UAs) that you've supplied: #1. Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 4...

Re: Issue in Micromax Canvas 4 A210 (wurfl is not working on

Hi Dharmendra, The Micromax User-Agent(UA) from your post appears to be corrupted. Micromax UAs usually contain the 'M' in Micromax capitalized. We are also unable to find any instances of the UA from your post in our data. Here's an example UA from Micromax A210 running on Android 4.2: Mozilla/5.0 ...

Hey,

The device has been added to WURFL and should be in the next WURFL.xml snapshot.

Re: Asus Transformer Pad MG10

Hi Jefferey,

Could you also please confirm that desktop mode has not been enabled for your browser? Certain Android browsers have an option to spoof and send a desktop User Agent (one that resembles the UA in your post).

Thanks,

Re: Unable to Detect Chrome desktop Version

Hi Mangala Ganesh, The WURFL.xml file is designed to work alongside the logic in the WURFL API to provide accurate detection. In this case, when the WURFL API processes the Chrome user agent, it is able to pick out the correct device ID from the WURFL.xml file, as evidenced in my screenshot a few po...

Re: Unable to Detect Chrome desktop Version

Hi Mangala Ganesh,

What language and version of the WURFL API and what date of the WURFL.xml file are you using? The User-Agent appears to be detected properly with the newest API version (1.5.2) and the latest WURFL.xml file.

Thanks,

Hi David, Thank you for your post. We will take this information into consideration when we update the matching heuristics in the WURFL API. I have a few questions for you: 1. You posted the user-agents for the phone and desktop form factors, but would be possible to post the user-agent for a tablet...

Re: Dell Venue Tablet

Hi Amir, The tablet, you are testing with, runs the full blown Windows 8.1 desktop OS. Since this desktop OS does not disclose the model version of the device, we are unable to conclusively determine if the device is indeed a tablet or not. Please note that the "Touch" keyword in the UA only indicat...

Hi there!

WURFL does indeed recognize the HTC One M8 as you can see here. We will look into this issue and resolve it shortly.

Cheers!
