Re: Personal Wurfl JS Server

Hey Ben, WURFL used to be an open source project years ago, then it became a commercial open-source project based on the AGPL license. The main point was that maintaining WURFL in good shape required the employment of paid personell and resources. A pure open-source approach simply did not allow tha...

Re: WURFL.js translation to PT-BR

Hi Reidark, technically speaking, that page is the copyright of ScientiaMobile, but we certainly don't have a problem if one makes the effort of translating a page. We won't be able to adopt it though, since we have no plans to allocate resources to maintain our documentation in multiple languages. ...

Re: Direct access to the Cloud with own JSON client

Interesting question. We did play with the idea of creating an Erlang client at some point, but we concluded that we probably wouldn't see a real user for quite some time. Happy to see we were wrong :) To answer your question, the answer is probably yes. Can you contact us offline at: support at sci...

Re: WIT ready for Production?

Hi, thank you for your message. We launched WIT recently, but we deployed it in production on two websites ( this one for example ), so the service is validated in production and we are committed to keeping the service highly-available for its users. Also keep in mind that the service is being deliv...

Re: Next open source release?

We do not have an ETA on this. Also, please remember that you are supposed to open source your complete code base if you use AGPL WURFL. Have you considered becoming a commercial WURFL user? this will come with weekly releases of the device data. http://www.scientiamobile.com/license Thanks Edit: As...

Re: Possible Bug: High CPU usage

Hi there, we have never heard of this problem. To add to that, wurfl.js returns virtually no javascript, just the JSon object (only exception iOS where some magic is done to recognize the actual device, which is not dicoverable through inspection of HTTP headers alone). At which email address can we...

Hello Roey,

can you provide code that we can use to reproduce the issue?

btw, a few minor modifications were necessary for the transition from API 1.4 to 1.5

Re: Detect tablet and smartphone browsers with Javascript

Massimo, something isn't right here. Are you using the built in browser? are you going through some proxy of some kind to reach the Internet?

can you please snoop the HTTP headers at this URL: http://db.scientiamobile.com/h

Please send us a note once the headers are captured.

Thanks

Re: Detect tablet and smartphone browsers with Javascript

Hi Wurfl Lover, Is WURFL.js a reliable way to detect wheteher a browser is running on a smartphone or a tablet? The answer to your question is "yes. Of Course!". You just need to include the following script to the pages where you want tablets detected: <script type='text/javascript' src="//wurfl.io...

Can you please confirm that you have access to it?

Re: SVG image capability

Hi there, defining what SVG support means is not obvious. As a standard in mobile it was introduced around 2004/2005, but its support was spotty because of Flash (and Flashlite) predominance. Then Apple made it relevant again when Flash was dropped from the iPhoneOS. To make things more complicated,...
