Re: HTTP User Agent Vs WUFURL
A script may be good enough for your needs. In that case you don't need WURFL, just like you don't need a car when a bike will do. We could tell you that there are cases where a script will fail to detect a tablet or mobile device, yet if you run a small website, accounting for those cases may not b...

Re: Java Api don't detect some devices
Hello Zagruzka, as far as recognition of the device with UAProf goes, you will need to wait until API 2.0 for the feature. As far as the Opera Mini header is concerned, API 2.0 will help there, but the good news is that, already today, with a small change in the code you can have the Java API detect...

Re: device_os, device_os_version, browser, browser version
Bumping this thread to ask when your API v 1.5 is coming out. In all openness, because of crossed holidays and the fact that we want to have all hands on deck when a new API is launched for all the different platforms, the plan is to release in the beginning of September. Having said this, commerci...

Re: Uniquely differentiate devices?
I am not sure I understand what you are asking for, unless you are asking for cookies, i.e. you look up device capabilities for each device once, and you make sure that the same information is piggybacked on top of cookies the next time a request from the same device comes in. Another possibility is...

Re: WURFL Cloud HTTP that only contains the user-agent strin
There are two potential disadvantages of WURFL OnSite over the WURFL Cloud: - Updates. The Cloud is automatically updated without any action required at least once per week. OnSite requires that you or your team updates the wurfl.xml regularly (paying customers can set this up automatically. Communi...

Re: Installation OK but testing gives a error
What does the custom web patch contain? I have a sneaking suspicion that the problem may be there. For the record, we removed the web patch a long time back (the info in it was consolidated within the big WURFL and newer versions of the API, so the API is no)w fully able to detect desktop web browse...

Re: Determine smart phone
Hi George, API 1.5 will introduce this as a standard feature. At any rate, you can always create your own definition of smartphone based on your own unique requirements or use the one in 1.4. This thread will also provide interesting reading: http://www.scientiamobile.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=...

Re: Do WURFL lookup only for requests for a particular file
Which particular InFuze product are you referring too? The Varnish-Cache module can definitely do this. About Apache and NGinx, this is a feature we may be intrducing in the future if enough customers report this as an issue. Sharing the Apache code with a licensee is a possibility if this helps the...

Re: Cisco F5 integration
Thanks for your response.. A bit confused because as far as I know we've bought a premier license for WURFL cloud, not any of the standalone client licenses. Does the WURFL cloud premier license include access to the standalone clients? Yes, Cloud users can integrate the Cloud Client code relativel...

Re: Strategy for differentiating tablet from phone?
In addition to Steve's answer, I am not sure about the assumption that "has_cellular_radio=true" implies that the device is not a a tablet. There are several counter-examples to this, which include early iPads and early Kindles too. As far as the definition of smartphone goes, that's a definition th...

Re: WURFL as part of Hadoop environment
We cannot point to any example, but we really don't see any complexity in this. You may want to install an instance of the WURFL API on each node. The only complexity might come from the fact that, for each node, you only want to instantiate the WURFL API once, but that obstacle can be easily overco...
