Firewall Problem

Postby hostmaster » Wed May 30, 2012 2:18 pm

Our company sign up the cloud service last week. Company's Firewall blocked access to port 80. Therefore the service call failed.
Opening up port 80 is not an option. IT support want to find out the following:

1. Can the Client API uses a proxy to access the service?

2. Are there specific IP's can be used for white listing the service?

We are exploring the option of allowing service on other ports, but in the meantime, you can safely whitelist our US and EU load balancers (you can grab the IPs from DNS):

lb01-us.wurflcloud.com
lb02-us.wurflcloud.com

lb01-uk.wurflcloud.com
lb02-uk.wurflcloud.com

We are planning to expand to other regions, but if you are in the North America or EU, these will not be changing any time soon.

I am in the similar situation. I am trying to evaluate Cloud for my company and I need to know if option 1 is possible? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, the client does not support a proxy at this time, although if you are using one of the scripting languages, like PHP, you can easily modify the adapter to support an HTTP proxy like this:

http://blog.proxybonanza.com/programmin ... ith-proxy/

Please let me know which language you are using, as we have already received this request a few times for PHP, and it's possible we could add support for this into the client.

kamermans, Thank you for your response.

My company is using C#. I will run the idea of using PHP by with my management and see how it goes.

I am kind of surprised to hear that the proxy support or workaround is only available in PHP and not in C#.

I kind of took it for granted that the workaround was available across the board.

Thanks.

We will certainly consider adding support to the .NET client, I just know that it will be very easy to update the PHP client since I am a PHP developer :)

Hi there
Is te connection using proxy supported in Java API?
Usually Cloud users configure their proxies elsewhere (virtual machine), which makes the WURFL Cloud client blissfully unaware of this issue.

Having said this, we do have, internally, a version of the Java Cloud Client that that allows setting a proxy. we can share that client with you if you wish. (not today, most probably, though).

Shall we contact you at the email address with which you have registered?

Thanks

Thank you.

Can you tell us what kind of Cloud account you have? premium or non-premium? there are two different clients for those scenarios

Thanks
