Hi,

We are currently using the following capabilities
  • device_os:
    device_os_version:
    mobile_browser:
    mobile_browser_version:
Why is it that it is not returning any information for the capabilities mentioned if accessed by a desktop/laptop.

Works fine when using ipad, playbook, smartphone.

Thanks,

Hi There,

if you use the API in high-performance mode (the default), 99% of desktop/laptop web browser will land into 'generic_web_browser'. Of course, generic web browser won't give you any data about the specific desktop browser.

As an aside, high-performance mode is also the default for the cloud.

This behavior will save your server a lot of memory. As a solution to your problem you can:
- run the standalone API in high-accuracy mode
- wait approximately one month for API 1.5.

API 1.5 will come with a utility function that addresses exactly the use-case you are asking about.

Thank you

In all openness, because of crossed holidays and the fact that we want to have all hands on deck when a new API is launched for all the different platforms, the plan is to release in the beginning of September.

Having said this, commercial licensees that have a urgent need can contact us offline and we can provide a beta version of the API for their platform already today.

Thanks
