Why do I have connection error with a premium account?

Please see the fatal error below and advise on how this can be avoided!

Hi, sorry about the trouble. I imagine there is a firewall in front of your server that is blocking outbound connections.

Are you using a shared-hosting plan, and if you don't mind sharing, which hosting provider are you using?

Hello Steve. Thank you for getting back to me. The sites using this service are all on a dedicated server hosted by godaddy. I don't believe there is a firewall. Any other suggestions?

I need to justify the $500/mo cost to my manager. If we are unable to connect to the WURFL cloud from time to time - the cost of this service poses an issue for me. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Claire,

I totally understand your concern, and I can assure you that even one second of downtime is unacceptable to us. Is this a periodic problem, or does it always fail? We can also try using the CURL method instead of fsock if you have the CURL extension enabled in PHP.

It was a somewhat isolated incident.I have 6 sites that use the plugin, all returned the fatal error for about a 5 minute interval. It was the first time the error occurred. I appreciate your understanding of our concern. Is the Curl solution more reliable? If so, why??

Same problem i am facing.

Hello,

Are you able to let me know what type of hosting you are using? Have you been able to successfully connect, or do you receive this error on each attempt?
