This user agent currently resolves to samsung_sph_m580_ver1_suban23 (M580 Replenish). It belongs to the Samsung SPH-M930BST (Boost rebrand) which I as far as I can see does not exist in wurfl.

you are right. The device is not in WURFL and that one is a false positive. The good news is that version 1.4 of the API correctly returns this:
'id' => 'generic_android_ver2_3',
'user_agent' => 'DO_NOT_MATCH_ANDROID_2_3',
'fall_back' => 'generic_android_ver2_2',
We have not released the API officially, but the Java version is in release candidate mode. If you want to give it a spin (recommended), please ping me offline (luca at scientiamobile)
