samsung detection with java api

I have this HTTP request, I expected this, but WURFL is returning that. Please provide enough data to reproduce the problem.

samsung detection with java api

Postby it@amobee.com » Thu Aug 29, 2013 6:44 am

Hi

I'm using the commercial wurfl xml from 25/08/13 and the java api version 1.4.4.3. My wurfl engine is set with the accuracy engine target. I'm trying to identify this user agent-
SAMSUNG-GT-S3802/1.0 NetFront/4.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1

The identified device is "generic_mobile".
However, when I use the same user agent in the wurfl query in wurfl.sourceforge.net, I get a more specific recoginition, "Samsung GT-S3800W (Rex 70)".

How can I get my java code to identify the user agent as "Samsung GT-S3800W (Rex 70)"?

thanks,

Hi Amit,

We've added the User-Agent(UA) for the GT-S3802(Rex 70 Duos) to the WURFL DB and it should be in the next weekly WURFL.xml snapshot onwards. You should see a more accurate detection of this UA after you update the WURFL.xml file on Monday.

Thanks and cheers!

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Actually, we have a rather long list of devices we fail to recognize. Since there was a discrepancy between our recognition and wurfl.sourceforge.net, I thought I might be doing something wrong, but I see now it's not the case. I would like to give this list of unrecognized user agents to check whether you can add them to the xml. I currently have about 300 user agents (tough admittedly some of them might not be legitimate user agents, eg "nokiae71" ).
I can't seem to find an option to attach files to this post. Would you rather I posted all of the user agents here or send you a file in email?

thank you,

Amit, can you please send those user-agents to wurfldb#scientiamobile.com ?

s/#/@/ of course....

We will happily look at them and add them to WURFL if everything checks out. Thanks
