Hello Team,
We are having issues detecting Samsung Phones as mobile devices.
User-Agent:
Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 7.0; SAMSUNG-SM-G935A Build/NRD90M) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/56.0.2924.87 Mobile Safari/537.36
When running this user-agent directly on your site it returns a "Generic Android 7.0" device.
Capabilities
is_tablet false
pointing_method touchscreen
resolution_width 320
resolution_height 480

Re: SAMSUNG-SM-G935A - not being detected as Is Smartphone
Hello Edgecast Support
The following User-Agent will be properly detected in the next xml update. However the is_smartphone capability should return true. Are you able to let me know which version of our API you are using so I can further assist you detecting this device as a smartphone?
Thanks,
Amar

Wurfl v1.6.4.1 API upgrade is the version we are running.
Re: SAMSUNG-SM-G935A - not being detected as Is Smartphone
Hello Edgecast Support
I can verify that the User-Agent is now properly detected in the newest xml update as well as on http://tools.scientiamobile.com/. I would also like to point out that we are now on version 1.8.3 of our API and would suggest an upgrade to receive better detection.
Thanks,
Amar

Hello !
Can we check the database that the below are correctly being detected?
We are getting reports from clients that the below devices are not being detected.
- Samsung Galaxy S7 (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 7.0; SM-G930U Build/NRD90M) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/58.0.3029.83 Mobile Safari/537.36) -> Does NOT redirect

Hello Simon,
I can verify that the Nexus 7 and Galaxy S8 User-Agents are detected in the latest wurfl.xml and that the G6 and S7 User-Agents will be detected in the next xml update. If possible can you let me know which xml and version of our API you are using so I can better assist you in detecting the Nexus 7 and S8 User-Agents?
Thanks,
Amar

Re: SAMSUNG-SM-G935A - not being detected as Is Smartphone
Hi Simon,
As previously noted by Amar, the user agent strings for the G6 and S7 have been added to our database and the update is reflected in the latest WURFL.xml file. If you have not already done so, you will want to update the file (and continue to do so once a week) and run your detection again.
Otherwise, if you are using a product outside of our InFuze/OnSite offerings, the change has already been applied and the provided user agent strings should correctly be detected.
Thanks,
Aaron
