Inject detection result in Header

Postby ulrode » Wed Jan 30, 2013 6:59 am

Hi,

new to this forum and was asked by representative to post my question here, so let's try. I think it's relevant for this section of the forum, let me know if it's not.

We’re looking to see if it is possible to do the device detection before it actually hits the web application and inject the results as a header. This should preferably be done from the load balancer or from Apache. Do you have any such experience or use cases to share with us? Examples on how to achieve this?

Cheers
Ulrik

Hello Ulrik,

this looks like a job for the Varnish Cache module, but there may be other alternatives.

Please take contact with us through our inquiry form at http://www.scientiamobile.com/license and make sure you add information about your software/hardware configuration to allow us to escalate to the engineering team.

Thank you

Hi Ulrik,

Our modules for Varnish-Cache, NGINX and Apache can all be used to inject headers into the incoming request, and, assuming you're using them as a reverse-proxy/load-balancer, this can seriously simplify the deployment of WURFL in your environment. Here's a blog post from Luca Passani, our CTO on how to inject HTTP headers with WURFL data from within a Varnish-Cache VCL script: http://www.scientiamobile.com/blog/post ... ng-Header-.
Thanks,
