We are getting different image (older version) using the WURFL url versus using the direct URL. Could this be a cache issue?

You are correct that this is due to the image being served from cache. It may take several hours for the cache to completely purge an image once it has been placed in cache. If you would like to update an image, it is best to update the URL of the image for the change to be available immediately.

Thank you for letting me know. I would recommend updating the the URL of the origin image in order to propagate the cache immediately.
