device detection from android app

Hello,

I would like to know whether it's possible to detect a device based on an http request coming from a native android app.
By default there is no user-agent header, but the system provides a user-agent that resembles the one below
Dalvik/1.2.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2.2; U8800 Pro Build/HuaweiU8800Pro)
containing both device and model information.

Is that possible through WURFL cloud or any other product.
In fact we did a test with an android app running on the device with the user agent mentioned above and the device detected was generic_android_ver2_2

The recently introduced "is_app" virtual capability is what you are looking for.
